Maryland is in for a beautiful stretch of fall weather this week, with plenty of sunshine, comfortable temperatures and mostly dry conditions expected across the Baltimore region.

While a powerful nor’easter lingers over the Atlantic Ocean, high pressure along the East Coast will help keep the worst of the storm away from Maryland.

The offshore storm is expected to move slowly through the middle of the week, bringing rough surf, gusty winds and possible coastal flooding to Maryland’s beach communities. Coastal areas from Assateague Island into Delaware could also experience significant beach erosion as strong waves continue to impact the shoreline.

Minor coastal flooding is also possible in Annapolis during high tide Tuesday and Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Baltimore and surrounding communities can expect sunny to mostly sunny skies throughout the workweek. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 60s, while overnight temperatures drop into the 40s and lower 50s. Breezy conditions are possible, but the strongest winds should remain closer to the coast.

Looking ahead to the weekend, even cooler temperatures could move into Maryland as the offshore storm pushes farther away.

Forecasters are monitoring the possibility of widespread frost Saturday or Sunday morning, particularly in areas outside Baltimore. Despite the chilly mornings, afternoons should remain sunny and cool.

The dry weather could also create ideal conditions for residents hoping to enjoy Maryland’s changing fall foliage.

Football fans can also look forward to favorable weather for Sunday’s Ravens game. Early tailgaters should prepare for temperatures in the 40s before conditions warm into the lower to mid-60s by kickoff. Sunshine and relatively light winds could make for a comfortable afternoon of football.

Forecast verified against the National Weather Service’s October 19 update for Baltimore.
